Princeton University is reviewing an incident from a game Saturday against Brown University
PRINCETON -- Princeton University men's lacrosse coach Chris Bates has been placed on administrative leave after he elbowed an opposing player in a game Saturday against Brown University.
The game video shows Bates, who was on the field during play, sticking out his elbow and hitting Brown midfielder John Yozzo-Scaperrotta as he was running off the field.

Early in the third period, off a faceoff win, Yozzo-Scaperrotta collided with Princeton midfielder Austin deButts, Lacrosse Magazine reported. Yozzo-Scaperrotta had fallen down in front of Princeton's bench and was running to the sideline when Bates hit him.
"The university is taking this matter seriously and will be conducting a prompt and thorough review," read a statement on the school's athletic page. "Offensive coordinator Matt Madalon will lead the team during this process."
The magazine also said the Ivy League conference is reviewing the matter, but declined to comment at this time.
Bates is in his seventh year as the head coach of the Tigers. His bio says that his "calmness and strength serve as the bedrock of the Princeton men's lacrosse program."
Brown eventually won the game 19-8.
