More than $20,000 was raised for St. Baldrick's Foundation at the head-shaving event

EWING -- With big smiles and a few apprehensive looks, brothers in Phi Alpha Delta at The College of New Jersey took razors to their heads to help raise awareness and money for the fight against childhood cancer.

Hair littered the stage as more than 50 people had their heads shaved as part of the fraternity's "Brave the Shave" event, now in its second year.

The haircuts raised more than $20,000 for St. Baldrick's Foundation, a charity that funds research on childhood cancer.

Sophomore Brendan Harshman, who helped organize the event, said it was a good way to support the cause.

"We know that childhood cancer is something that affects a lot of people," he said. "People don't know that childhood cancer is completely different from other cancers and it's extremely underfunded."
