The Northern Burlington County high and middle schools were immediately placed on lockdown as a precaution
MANSFIELD -- A Burlington County high school and middle school were briefly locked down Thursday morning after someone was seen jumping the fence and running toward the campus, police said.
Northern Burlington County Regional High School officials notified the school resource officer after being alerted to the situation by the district transportation department on Route 68.
The individual turned out to be a student at the high school. School officials and police worked together to determine there was no threat to the school or other students.
The precautionary lockdown was lifted at about 10:30 a.m., 20 minutes after the incident was reported.
