TRENTON - A teen and two adults were arrested in the gunpoint robbery of a taxi driver Sunday night, police said.

James Williams, 19, of Morrisville, Pa., Sergio Santiago, 21, of Trenton and a 15-year-old Trenton teen were arrested in connection with the robbery of a taxi driver on the corner of Division and Hewitt shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday, Lt. Stephen Varn said.

One of the three hailed a cab on Cooper Street for a ride to Division and Hewitt. At the corner, the passenger pulled a gun as two others approached the car, Varn said.

The trio stole $250 and a cellphone from the driver and ran away, Varn said.

Detective Richard Ramos was in the area and heard a gunshot and saw a group of people duck into a house. Ramos investigated. One of the three was positively identified by the driver, Varn said.

Members of the group also were in possession of the driver's money and cellphone, Varn said.

Williams and Santiago were charged with robbery and weapons charges. Bail for each was not immediately available.

The teen was taken to Middlesex County Youth Detention Center, Varn said.
