The Morrisville, Pa. officer was involved in a drug arrest when he was injured in Doylestown.
A Morrisville, Pa. police officer suffered burn injuries Tuesday when he came in contact with live electrical wires while retrieving a bag of heroin from the top of a train, Action News in Philadelphia reported.
The officer, who was not identified in the report, was injured at about 3 p.m. near SEPTA's Doylestown train station, the report said.
Police were involved with an ongoing drug investigation when they attempted to arrest a suspect at the train station.
Following a foot chase, during which the suspect tossed a bag containing heroin onto the roof of a train car, the officer climbed onto the train car to get the package and came into contact with electrical wires, Action News reported.
The officer was initially taken to Doylestown Hospital with a burn injury to the arm and later taken to Temple University Hospital for treatment.
