The teen was with two friends when they were approached by two men with handguns, police say
TRENTON - A 14-year-old Trenton boy was shot in the back in an East Ward alley Wednesday, police said.
The teen was with two other teens - 14 and 15 years old - in Bangor Alley around 7:30 p.m. when they were approached by two unknown men, wearing dark clothing and ski masks, both with handguns, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
The three took off running and the gunmen opened fire. Two escaped injury, but the 14-year-old was shot in the right shoulder blade. Police responding to the gunfire found the teen on the 400 block of Division Street, Varn said.
The teen was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where he was treated for his injuries, Varn said.
The Shooting Response Team is investigating, Varn said.
