Luis Valentin is due to face drunken driving charges in East Windsor Monday stemming from a December arrest
EAST WINDSOR - Former Monmouth County Prosecutor Luis Valentin is due in court to face drunken driving charges from a December arrest in East Windsor, authorities said Friday.
Valentin, 49, who currently works as an attorney in the civil rights division of the Attorney General's Office, is scheduled to appear in East Windsor Municipal Court at 9 a.m. March 7 to face numerous charges stemming from his arrest Dec. 19, court officials said.

Valentin, of Manalapan, was pulled over after midnight on Route 33 after patrolman Scott Brown saw Valentin driving erratically and stopped his car, according to East Windsor police.
Brown smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle and administered field sobriety tests before arresting Valentin on driving while intoxicated charges, police said. He also faces charges of refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, careless driving and failure to maintain a lane, police said.
Valentin was the first Hispanic county prosecutor in New Jersey when he was appointed by then-Gov. Richard Codey in 2005. Gov. Chris Christie chose not to re-appoint Valentin in 2010 when his five-year term expired.
Valentin previously worked with Christie at the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Jersey, where he served as chief of the violent crimes unit. Valentin also previously worked as an assistant prosecutor in Hudson County.
