A Marine battalion is scheduled to conduct live mortar practice on Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst, creating loud noises and ground shaking
JOINT BASE MCGUIRE DIX LAKEHURST - The U.S. Marines are scheduled to fire live ammunition this weekend, causing loud noises and ground shaking in the area, officials said Tuesday.
The 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines will be conducting live fire mortar training Sunday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the base.
If the weather Sunday is cloudy or overcast, the noise may carry farther, base officials said.
"Joint Base greatly appreciates your patience and cooperation as we ensure the readiness of our nation's fighting force,'' base officials said.
