Robbinsville police opened their parking lot at 1117 Route 130 to Craigslist users to ensure residential safety when meeting people from online.

ROBBINSVILLE -- Robbinsville police have created a safe area for people looking to sell and purchase items on sites like Craigslist, the department announced.

"With online sites such as Facebook and Craigslist quickly becoming the desired way to sell items, the question is where can these exchanges take place to ensure everyone's safety?" Robbinsville police wrote on their Facebook page.

The department created the space in their parking lot - called an Internet Purchase Exchange Location - for residents to meet up with users to either sell or purchase items.

Police said the lot has 24-hour surveillance and urged residents to use this as a safe zone for meeting online users in person.

"RPD warns against meeting strangers at private residences, or in other areas that you are unfamiliar with," Robbinsville police said.

The Robbinsville Police Department is located at: 1117 Route 130, Robbinsville, N.J. 08691.
