HILLSBOROUGH - A mass of charred and burned-out structures is all that remains of Hillsborough warehouse complex after a fire tore through it for nearly two days.

Hillsborough Mayor Frank DelCore said the fire was mostly contained but firefighters were still working to put out some hot spots Saturday morning.

The fire started in a four-building warehouse complex off of Route 206 adjacent to Harold Docherty Memorial Park Thursday afternoon.

It raged through the complex throughout the evening Thursday and all of Friday, sending of plumes of smoke that could be seen for miles.

On Friday firefighters said it was possible that the flames could last for days.

But they had almost entirely subsided Saturday morning. Only a few fire trucks were left at the scene and the warehouse looked clear of both smoke and flames.

DelCore said the remaining firefighters will work throughout the day to clear the scene.
