Valentines for Veterans was an idea the Congresswoman felt would connect two groups (children and veterans) that would greatly benefit from interaction with one another. Watch video
EWING - If something works once, why not do it again?
For the second straight year, U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-12th Dist.) visited local schools for her Valentines for Veterans program Tuesday.
The initiative provides an opportunity for the congresswoman to talk with students about the service of veterans and she then collects valentine cards the students make to express their appreciation and support for those who served their country.
"This event offers an opportunity to teach our students about the service and sacrifice of our veterans, and to bring a little light and laughter to the men and women who have served in our armed aervices," said Watson Coleman.
Her first stop was at the William Antheil School in Ewing, followed by Ethel McKnight Elementary School in Hightstown and then on to Oak Tree Elementary School in Monroe.
