The teen was charged with heroin possession and distribution offenses
TRENTON - A 17-year-old Trenton boy who tried to avoid detection by police was arrested and charged with drug offenses after a short chase, police said Wednesday.
Street crimes detectives were patrolling in the area of Allen and Montgomery streets around 6:44 p.m. Tuesday when they saw a parked car with two people inside, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
As officers passed the car, the passenger slouched down in the seat to avoid detection, Varn said.
The officers stopped. The driver pulled away. When the driver got to the intersection of Perry and Montgomery, the passenger got out of the car. The driver continued on, Varn said.
The passenger, the 17-year-old, was found with 17 bags of heroin and $160 in cash, Varn said.
He was charged with heroin possession and distribution offenses, Varn said.
