TRENTON -- Two 14-year-old boys were shot Friday night in Trenton, police said.
The teens, both Trenton residents, were in the area of Jersey Street and Home Avenue when they were shot at 10:30 p.m., Trenton Police spokesman Lt. Stephen Varn said.
The teenagers were taken to separate hospitals, and both were treated and have already been released, Varn said Saturday.
"The two victims were walking in the area when they heard gun fire and realized they had been stuck," Varn said.

One of the teens, who was shot through his shoulder, was picked up by Trenton EMS personnel and taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, Varn said.
The other teen, who sustained a gun shot wound to his right thigh, was taken by friends to St. Francis Medical Center in the city, Varn said.
The boys were walking in the area with three other individuals when the shooting occurred, police said. A suspect has not yet been identified.
The incident, including the shooting motive, remains under investigation, Varn said.
This shooting adds to Trenton's new crime tally for 2016, which includes three homicides this month.
