A heavy winter storm packing high winds that started Friday night and continued to pummel the state Saturday has caused back bay flooding and road closures in several Jersey shore towns.
Much of the flooding early Saturday was focused on southern New Jersey. A flood warning was in effect for the coastal parts of New Jersey until Sunday. Police and the New Jersey Department of Transportation are warning drivers to stay off the road.

Atlantic City was closely monitoring rising waters Saturday, according to Angelo Demaio from the office of emergency management in the city.
Route 147 both into and out of North Wildwood was closed around 7 a.m. because of flooding, police reported on their Facebook page. They wrote that there was no access to the island from the northern end. Wildwood city police also reported on their Facebook that the entire George Redding Bridge was closed because of flooding.
Further north, a section of Route 35 South of Route 71 in Belmar was flooded around 7 a.m. with one to two lanes of the road closed, New Jersey 511 reported.
