TRENTON - A Trenton man was shot in the back in the West Ward Sunday, police said.
A 40-year-old man told police he was walking from his house to his car on the 1400 block of West State Street when he was approached by a man in a grey hoodie, who hit him in the face with the butt of a gun and shot him in the back, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
The gunman then took the man's cellphone, wallet and keys before running away, Varn said.
The man was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, where he was admitted for treatment, Varn said.
The Shooting Response Team is investigating, Varn said.
