TRENTON -- A 24-year-old man wounded in Trenton's West Ward Friday night died at a Trenton hospital Saturday, authorities said Saturday night.
The man's death is the first homicide in Trenton in 2016 and occurred during a wave of violent Friday and Saturday in the city. Police responded to four shootings with five victims.
The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office announced the man's death late Saturday and said more information about the case would be made public Sunday.
Trenton police said officers were called to the 100 block of Rosemont Avenue around 11:15 p.m. Friday for a call about shots fired in the area.

When they arrived they learned that a 24-year-old man had already been driven to a hospital after a shooting occurred outside on the block, police said.
The Mercer County Homicide Task Force is investigating the man's death.
Police have not said if any of the shootings are related.
The other shootings Friday and Saturday in the city:
- A 24-year-old man was shot on Oakland Street at 8 p.m. Friday.
- Two partygoers were wounded when masked gunmen burst into an apartment on Prospect Street at 12:45 a.m. Saturday.
- A man was critically wounded at Walnut Avenue and Chambers Street at 6 p.m. Saturday.
