Police responding to a call about a man with a gun on the 100 block of Passaic Street, saw several people run into a house as they approached
TRENTON - Five people, including one teen, were arrested on burglary charges police chased them through two houses on Passaic Street Monday, police said.
Police around 6 p.m. were responding to a call about a man with a gun entering a house on the 100 block of Passaic Street, when they saw several people run into a house as they approached, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
Police chased. The group ran through the house, up the stairs and out to the roof through a third-floor window, Varn said.
The group ran across the roof to the vacant house next door and entered that house through a window, Varn said.
Police found one of the group in a third floor bedroom and four others in a second floor bathroom, where they also found 39 bags of heroin in the toilet, Varn said.
Donovan Vereen, 20; Derek Colley, 22; Hafeez Abdullah, 18, and a 16-year-old Trenton youth were charged with burglary, criminal trespass and heroin possession and distribution charges, according to police records.
Christopher Proctor, 21, who was found on the third floor of the vacant house, was charged with burglary, criminal trespass and resisting arrest, according to police records.
Bails for each were not immediately available Monday.
