Domestic Church Media in Ewing has purchased WGYM 1580 AM in Hammonton
EWING -- A Ewing-based religious broadcaster has bought radio station in Atlantic County and plans to switch it to Catholic programming, the company announced.
Domestic Church Media (DCM) announced they bought WGYM 1580 AM in Hammonton from Access.1 Communications Corp., Domestic Church's CEO Jim Manfredonia said.
The 1000-watt WGYM, which DCM says went on the air in 1961, has been broadcasting a Spanish-language format since March, 2014.
Manfredonia said in a statement that DCM hopes to have Catholic radio programs on WGYM beginning on January 1.
DCM owns and operates two other Catholic stations in New Jersey, WFJS 1260 AM in Trenton and 89.3 FM in Freehold.

DCM is an affiliate of EWTN, the global Catholic network that provides television, radio and news reporting on several channels and through affiliates.
Manfredonia said WGYM station will provide a variety of network and local programing that will obviously appeal Catholics, plus other faiths.
DCM will simulcast all three stations from their main studios and facilities at The Archbishop Fulton J Sheen Center for Media Evangelization in Ewing.
