TRENTON - A Trenton man faces drug charges after he led police on a chase through backyards, over fences and eventually into an abandoned house, authorities said.
Street crimes unit detectives were looking for Andre Mack on Hewitt Street in connection with a report of a possible property crime. When detectives found him on Hewitt Street around 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Mack ran, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
Police chased, but Mack jumped from one backyard to another, hopping fences while detectives followed. Eventually, Mack ran into an abandoned house, where he was found on the second floor trying to hide, Varn said.
Mack was found with 4 bags of heroin and a credit card that did not belong to him, Varn said.
Mack was charged with heroin possession, resisting arrest, obstruction, criminal trespass, credit card theft and two outstanding warrants. His bail was set at $14,251, according to police records.
