A westbound Northeast Corridor train struck and killed an adult man just east of the New Brunswick station around 7:35 a.m., Lisa Torbic, NJ Transit spokeswoman, said.

Train #3817 left New York Penn Station with about 300 passengers at 6:35 a.m., heading to Trenton, when it hit the man, whose identity was not immediately known, Torbic said.

Passengers were transferred to another train and continued to Trenton. There were no reports of other injuries, Torbic said.

Trains out of Trenton are delayed at least 15 minutes and a 9:12 a.m. Northeast Corridor train was canceled because of the fatality, according to an NJ Transit alert.
