Lombardi was arrested on Oct. 31, the day after the last burglary When Manalapan police found him driving a Nissan Altima near Sweetmans Lane there based on a bulletin issued by State Police, Flynn said.

When Lombardi was arrested, police found in the car burglary tools and stolen jewelry, Flynn said.

He said detectives later seized a loaded .22-caliber handgun from a home on Wetherill Drive, which had been the site of a previous report of a burglary in process. Flynn said Lombardi stole that gun from a different home.

Based on evidence developed by detectives from the State Police Troop "C" criminal investigations office along with the department's Hamilton substation and Manalapan police, investigators built a case against Ditre and Sinkevicius, he said.

Ditre was charged on Nov. 4 while he was at the Ocean County Jail in Toms River on unrelated charges and Sinkevicius was arrested and charged Nov. 24 at the Hamilton substation, Flynn said.

Lombardi was charged with eight counts of burglary, eight counts of theft, two weapons offenses and certain persons not to possess a weapon. He was being held in the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold in lieu of $150,000 bail.

Ditre was charged with six counts of burglary, six counts of theft, unlawful possession of a weapon and certain persons not to possess a firearm. His bail was set at $50,000.

Sinkevicius was charged with conspiracy to commit burglary for allegedly driving Lombardi and Ditre to and from a targeted home. He was served a summons complaint and released pending a future court date, Flynn said.
