A ribbon cutting was held for the Princeton Post Office's new site on Nassau Street Monday morning.
PRINCETON - The Princeton Post Office seems to be thriving in a newly opened Nassau Street Location, according to Mayor Liz Lempert.
The office held its official ribbon cutting ceremony Monday morning, nearly a month after relocating to 259 Nassau Street in early November.
The previous office on Palmer Square closed earlier this year in a move that Lempert called a, "huge blow to the community."
Raymond Daiutolo, a representative for the U.S. Postal Service said in an email Monday that the former site had to close because it was, "too large for the remaining retail operation in that location."
Lempert, who was at the ribbon cutting ceremony Monday, said she went inside the post office's new site Monday and saw around four people already inside, running errands.
"It's in a space now that's still accessible," Lempert said.

She added that despite the move from Palmer Square, it seems that the post office will, "still be heavily used and important."
Daiutolo said Monday that he doesn't believe people will find the new location difficult to get to, as it is only a few blocks from the old post office.
The new office features a lobby open 24-hours, a self-service kiosk and two retail windows, according to a press release from the U.S. Postal Service. The retail windows are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
