Today's letters: JoAnne Bruno & the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association thank supporters
It is with special pride that I write to thank you for supporting me during our recent local campaign, together with Amy Inman and Don Ryland. We greatly appreciated your vote on Election Day. Your encouragement, enthusiasm, confidence and support meant so much during the campaign season.
As you may or may not know, I have never run for a public office. I wanted so much to serve Hamilton residents, including senior citizens, women, working families and our pets.
There are many things that can be done to enhance and strengthen our community. The current administration seems to feel that denial is a solution. I happen to disagree. There are many nice things going on in Hamilton but at the same time, we have our share of issues and problems that need action, commitment and support.
Amy, Don and I are fixers. We appreciate the challenge and opportunity to help others. In the two year interim, we will remain active in Hamilton and continue to attend council meetings.
It is my hope that you will again support us in the future. Please tell your friends and families to do so, so we can become your elected representatives when we will have the authority and responsibility to do what needs to be done in Hamilton to make it an ever better place to work, live and play. (The next local election is in 2017). Amy, Don and I will work for you.
We are approaching the season of giving - Thanksgiving and Christmas. We especially think of you for giving to us during the campaign. May you enjoy the joys and pleasures of this wonderful season.

The holidays are upon us and it is the time of giving. The giving of gifts, time, goodwill and most importantly, the giving of thanks.
As volunteers, we want to thank everyone who has supported the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association. Perhaps it's a donation, attending a Heart Walk, making a healthy change or supporting a Jump Rope For Heart program. No matter how you've shown support, we want to thank you for making a difference.
Born with a congenital heart defect, our daughter had already undergone two open heart surgeries, three cardiac catheterizations, a stent placement and countless other procedures by the time she was two years old. We know firsthand how devastating cardiovascular disease can be, as well as the absolute joy when there's a way to save your child's life.
We've seen research lead to advancements in heart disease and stroke treatment. We've seen employers make a shift toward workplace wellness. We've witnessed children saving lives because they've learned CPR. We've heard the push of making the healthy choice the easy choice for all Americans. And for us, we've watched our daughter grow into a fun, loving and beautiful child.
Visit www.heart.org/donate to support the American Heart Association this holiday season through volunteering or making a donation. Thank you for the support you've given and will continue to give as we move closer to a day where heart disease and stroke are no more. Your generosity has made a difference for this family. Happy Holidays!
