UPDATE: Police identify body found in Trenton neighborhood
TRENTON - A body was found in the rear of a house on Division Street early Tuesday morning, hours after police had investigated reports of gunshots in the area, authorities said.
By 10:30 a.m., a Mercer County Medical Examiner's van had removed the body from the rear of a house on the corner of Rusling and Division streets.
Police continued to investigate into the late morning and had cordoned off Rusling Street between Walnut and Division Street.
Police were called to the 100 block of Rustling Street around 6:20 a.m. by a resident who found a bullet hole in a car parked on the street overnight, Lt. Stephen Varn said.
While there, another resident tipped police that a body was found about a block away at a house on the 700 block of Division Street, Varn said.
Police would not release any further information about the body Tuesday morning, citing an ongoing investigation.
Police had been called to the intersection of around 12:30 a.m. on resident reports that there was gunfire in the area. Police found no suspects, but did find evidence of gunfire, Varn said. He declined to be more specific.
The Mercer County Homicide Task Force is investigating, Varn said.
