Hamilton fire companies extinguished a one-alarm kitchen fire at No. 1 Asian Bistro Friday night.
HAMILTON -- Township firefighters extinguished a one-alarm kitchen fire at the No. 1 Asian Bistro Friday night that forced the evacuation of the restaurant, Mercerville Fire Company Chief Chris Tozzi said.
Hamilton firefighters work at a blaze in this file photo. (Michael Mancuso | For NJ.com)The blaze, which started around 8 p.m., was caused by "a buildup of grease between (kitchen) appliances" and took approximately two hours to put out, Tozzi said.
Firefighters breached a wall in the kitchen to get to the majority of the fire, Tozzi said.
"It could've been much worse," said Tozzi, who had the restaurant calmly evacuated during the fire. "Our guys did a great job. No one was hurt."
The restaurant is temporarily closed due to the fire, Tozzi said.
