Dumpster fire displaces three businesses for two hours

A dumpster fire on Hulfish Street displaced people inside three local businesses while firefighters got it under control Sunday. No one was seriously injured.

PRINCETON - A dumpster fire that burned on Hulfish Street displaced three businesses for a couple of hours Sunday afternoon, police said.

The fire started around 3:45 p.m. in a trash compactor near the Hulfish Streeth Garage. Princeton Firefighters were called to the scene and had to evacuate people at three businesses including Mediterra Restaurant, The Farmhouse Store and the Princeton Corkscrew Wine Shop, police wrote in a release Tuesday. All three sit along Hulfish Street and workers were able to go back inside around 5:15 p.m.

A garage worker was also treated at the scene for shortness of breath following the fire.

Police were not available to comment on what may have started the fire but wrote in the release that the fire did not cause any structural damage to the garage.
