The event was organized in response to the social unrest at the University of Missouri and other campuses
EWING -- The College of New Jersey's campus will join together on Wednesday to stage a rally aimed at calling for peace and open dialogue.
The event, which has the support of college President R. Barbara Gitenstein and the staff and faculty senates, was organized in response to the social unrest at the University of Missouri and other campuses across the country.
TCNJ is the latest college to show solidarity with protestors at the University of Missouri, where recent racist incidents and the perceived lack of response by administrators led to demonstrations by students, a threatened boycott by the football team and the resignation of two top administrators.

The organizers said they want to emphasize the importance of unity and inclusivity.
"We acknowledge that everyone has the right to feel safe and included, and we refuse to sit idly by while there are people who seek to undermine this basic right," they said. "As such, we the students, staff and faculty of TCNJ challenge institutions and individuals across the nation to stand with us in this fight for unity."
The rally will be held at 3 p.m. on Quimby's Prairie outside of Green Hall. Speakers will include Gitenstein, faculty members and students.
