Mike Angarone, who turned 67 this month, said he was ready to spend more time with his family
HAMILTON -- Mike Angarone, a key member of Hamilton Mayor Kelly Yaede's cabinet, announced he is retiring next month after nearly eight years as the township's director of economic development and technology.
Angarone, who turned 67 this month, said he was ready to spend more time with his family.
"With my grandchildren growing older, I knew I wanted to be able to spend more time enjoying their growth along with my wife and our children," he said. "Those years tend to pass by quickly and I knew that those were years I wanted to enjoy with my family."
In his role, Angarone worked with businesses looking to locate or expand in Hamilton and oversaw the township's technology needs, helping to modernize the IT network and phone system and implement the HamStat call center.

Angarone, who is retiring Dec. 1, said he didn't want to leave before November when Yaede was re-elected to her first, full four-year term.
"I would not have wanted the mayor to have to consider her plans for filling my position during her re-election campaign," he said.
The mayor said Angarone would be greatly missed.
"Mike was a trusted member of my administration and was invaluable in his service to our community, particularly in the area of economic development," she said.
Angarone previously served three terms as a Hamilton councilman and one term as a county freeholder. He was also a member of the Mercer County Park Commission for 20-plus years. His private-sector career included 33 years with AT&T.
