Today's letters: criticizing Governor Chris Christie & Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen
Kudos to Paul Mulshine for telling it like it is about Chris Christie and his "campaign" for President. Let's be sure we include the following to add to his no-hope cause: Spending taxpayer money for lavish dinners, travel, entertainment and so on has been a Christie trademark for years, and the "campaign" provides him and Mary Pat with abundant opportunities for this. So, why should he stop now when he still can? Come on, Governor... Time to get real - come back to N.J. and be governor for the remainder of your term or step down and pass the torch. Too bad you wont do that, though.

The absurdity of the Nov. 4 column by Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen wherein he tries to justify increased military spending cannot be overstated. The Pentagon budget of one half trillion taxpayer dollars is already larger than the next seven highest spending countries combined. Approximately 55% of every dollar collected from federal income taxes goes to feed the gluttonous miliatary-industrial complex which we were warned about fifty five years ago.
And all those endless wars ie the Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya quagmires and civilian deathe from drones and over 100 military bases in other countries don't make the American people safer. In fact, just the opposite by turning several generations of Mideast youth against U.S. Imperialism.
The Obomba administration should back off, not escalate, especially and immediately in Syria where US warplanes are dropping bombs and U.S. Special Forces are training 'moderate' terrorist groups (whatever thatmeans) in violation of the UN Charter and international law.
In my opinion, military spending can be significantly reduced while still ensuring national security. In addition, those funds can then be used for domestic improvements like upgrading the national infrastucture of bridges, tunnels, rail lines, etc. That's a win/win policy.
