Mercer County Veterans Day ceremony held at Catholic War Veterans Post 417 in Trenton

This year's program featured the laying of a wreath to honor veterans' service, a salute to fallen veterans by American Legion Post 31, and the playing of taps by Walter Kramarz of the Mercer County Veterans Council.

TRENTON -- A Veterans Day ceremony was held at Catholic War Veterans Post 417, 301 Grand St., Trenton on Sunday, November 8.

The annual event was presented by Mercer County Veteran Services in conjunction with the Mercer County Veterans Council.


Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes joined other County and local officials to give recognition and appreciation to the many County residents who have served in America's armed forces.

The keynote speaker was Master Sgt. Stephan Simmins, Maryland National Guard, and a Trenton native.


The ceremony was emceed by Edward Mazzeo, Mercer County Veteran Service Officer.

Post 417 invites the public to Holy Cross Church, at 201 Adeline Street in Trenton, for a special Veteran's Day Commemorative Mass Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. for all veterans, living and deceased.


Mass celebrant will be Father James Innocenzi, diocesan judicial vicar who lives in residence in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, West Trenton. Color Guards, Veterans organizations and military units will be in attendance.
