The Princeton Chamber of Commerce gave grants to help support four local nonprofit organizations Thursday.
PRINCETON - The Princeton Chamber of Commerce gave out at total of $30,000
in grants Thursday to four local organizations as part of their community development fund.
Part of the grant money was given to the Crisis Ministry of Mercer County for their "Workforce Development and Self-Sufficiency Program," which helps people facing housing and job crises, according to a press release from the chamber. Another part was given to both the Latin American Legal Defense Fund to help develop "Jobs Mercer" which will connect qualified workers with little to no employment.

The rest was given to Princeton YMCA to support their after school homework assistance program and to "Every Child Valued" for a program that works with at-risk students in Lawrence Township, the press release stated.
The community development fund was started in 2013 with a $500,000 gift from the Princeton Chamber of Commerce. Over the years that followed, members have chosen to give around $90,000 to various nonprofits. The nonprofit organizations must apply and be chosen to receive the money.
