A man who's suing Mercer County and a technical school, claims he sat on a chair at the school that broke underneath him and caused him serious injuries.
TRENTON - A Bordentown man is suing Mercer County and one of its schools over a chair that broke beneath him two years ago, according to the lawsuit filed earlier this month.
The lawsuit was filed Oct. 9 in Mercer County Superior Court, against both Mercer County and Mercer County Technical School on behalf of Philip Pompile.
Pompile is seeking payment to make up for the injuries he sustained in the incident.
Pompile was a student on Oct. 2013 when he sat on a, "dangerous and defective," chair that collapsed underneath him at the school, the lawsuit stated.
His lawyer, Jonathan Marx, said Friday that Pompile suffered a vascular injury as well as serious injuries to his lumbar spine, all of which may be permanent.

The lawsuit said that both the county and the school had, "knowledge of the dangerous condition of the chair," and that they should have warned Pompile before he sat down.
In the aftermath of the incident, Pompile claimed in the lawsuit that he's suffered pain, injuries and costly visits to the doctor.
Representatives from the technical school and the county were not immediately available for comment Friday.
The technical school is part of the Mercer County Technical School District, which has high school and adult programs.
