Police were called to the 300 block of Concord Avenue at about 4:30 p.m., but located the victim at Big John's Deli on nearby Parkway Avenue, police said.

EWING -- A 41-year-old man suffered a wound to his shoulder after shots were fired on Concord Avenue Wednesday evening, Ewing police said.

Police were called to the 300 block of Concord Avenue at about 4:30 p.m., but located the victim at Big John's Deli on nearby Parkway Avenue, police said.

The man suffered a cut to his left shoulder, but police were unable to determine if the man was grazed by a bullet or if he cut his shoulder as he leaped fences in the area fleeing gunfire.

The victim, who was not named, refused transport to a hospital for treatment.

Police Capt. Rocco Maruca said police did find bullet casings in the Concord Avenue area.

Police believe the incident was drug related, and not a random act of violence in the neighborhood.

Maruca said officers arrested a man at the scene for drug possession, but did not make public any details of the arrest due to the ongoing criminal investigation.

D.C. Peters, who lives on Concord Avenue, heard the shots.

"My first thought was it's the kids coming home from high school," Peters said. "I'm kind of shocked. That kind of violence usually doesn't come this far."

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Ewing Detective Bill Wolverton at 609-882-1313 ext. 5577.
