Hundreds of hungry people packed Bordentown's Farnsworth Ave. today to enjoy the fourth annual "Taste of Bordentown" fundraiser, presented by the Downtown Bordentown Association.

BORDENTOWN - Hundreds of hungry people packed Bordentown's Farnsworth Avenue Saturday to enjoy the fourth annual "Taste of Bordentown" fundraiser, presented by the Downtown Bordentown Association.

The fundraiser, which ran from 3-6 p.m., featured participants perusing the area and enjoying the delicacies of eight different local restaurants - HOB Tavern, Marcello's Restaurant & Tomato Pie, Smylie's Ice Cream Shop, Toscano Ristorante, Jester's Cafe, Cake Box by Neelma, and The Vault - Authentic Wood Fire Pizzeria. A $15 ticket allowed participants to sample food from all eight locations, with the fundraiser's proceeds going to the DBA.

"We just want people to enjoy a casual stroll through Bordentown down Farnsworth Avenue, taking in everything our town has to offer," said Mary Barnes, the coordinator of the event and owner of HOB Tavern. "We want people to sample food from eight of our restaurants and see what they like. We have everything from burgers and wings to ice cream; there's something for everyone."

Barnes explained how a fundraiser like this benefits all of the restaurants involved.

"It's great exposure for all eight restaurants," said Barnes. "We have great restaurants here in Bordentown, there's no doubt about that. This event promotes them, which is exactly what the DBA wants. It's a nice way to bring people into town to see what we have to offer, because we have so many different choices. We hope they enjoy their time here and want to come back."

According to Barnes, the fundraiser also benefits Bordentown as a whole.

"There's a ton of great stuff to see and do in Bordentown," said Barnes. "It's a great place with a lot of history. We hope that people recognize that while they're here enjoying the fundraiser. It's great exposure for our town."

Barnes believes the annual fundraiser is a great way to bring the community together year after year.

"It's a great opportunity to walk around town for a few hours and see old friends or people that you haven't seen all summer," said Barnes. "It's great for the whole family. Parents love bringing their kids. It's just a lot of fun."
