The boy was sitting on a front porch on Rutherford Avenue with friends when he was hit
TRENTON -- A 15-year-old boy is in stable condition after he was shot in the neck Monday night while sitting on a front porch with friends, police said.
A report of shots fired in the 600 block of Rutherford Avenue came in around 10:13 p.m., said Lt. Stephen Varn. While en route, the responding officers were advised that the boy had been struck and was being brought to Capital Health Regional Medical Center by a family member.
The teen told police that he was sitting on a front porch with friends when he heard gunshots from a passing car and realized he had been hit in the right side of his neck, Varn said. No one else was hit.
The bullet was removed at the hospital and he was admitted for observation in stable condition, Varn said.
Police have not yet determined a suspect or motive, but the Shooting Response Team continues to investigate.
The incident follows two weekend shootings that wounded four men.
