Trenton Public Schools hope to have a new superintendent in place by July 1
TRENTON -- Trenton's school district is asking for input from the public on what it should be looking for in its next superintendent.
Students, parents, staff and members of the community are invited to attend a forum Wednesday night, where they will be asked to share their thoughts on the district, community and the kind of person they would like to see. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Board of Education's auditorium at 108 N. Clinton Ave.
An online survey has also been posted, asking people to prioritize the kinds of experience, skills and qualities they believe the next superintendent should have. The survey, available in both English and Spanish, will be open through Oct. 11.
The district hopes to have someone in place by July 1.
Michael Rush, the consultant hired to do the search, has said he would like to present the school board with a shortlist of eight to 12 qualified candidates.
"A lot of good superintendents are out there and our goal is to find the right match," Rush said last month.
Lucy Feria has been interim leader of the 11,000-student district since last October when Francisco Duran abruptly resigned to take a job in Virginia.
