The woman was reported missing Thursday night. Police believe she was hit and killed by a car
PRINCETON - A woman visiting her daughter from China was found dead by the side of the road in Princeton Saturday - almost two days after she was reported missing, police said.
Police and Mercer County prosecutors believe the woman, 69-year-old Xufeng Huang was hit by a car and killed sometime between Thursday night and Saturday morning, they said in a statement.
Huang, who lived in China, had been visiting her daughter on Worths Mill Lane in Princeton this week when she went missing. Her family called police Thursday night to say that they had last seen her around 6:30 that afternoon, police have said. A missing poster for Huang, that was put up in a Princeton store said she had stepped out for a walk in the Worths Mills Lane area Thursday night.
But it wasn't until around 10 a.m. Saturday that officers found the 69-year-old mother. Officers were called to the intersection of Mercer Road and Gallup Road after a passer-by found Huang's body, the statement said. She was found in a wooded area off the road, approximately 15 to 20 feet from the roadside, police said.
Investigators believe she was hit and killed by a car, but did not have a time for the alleged crash. The area where Huang's body was discovered was about half a mile from her daughter's home.
Mercer Road was closed down while police investigated the death. It was reopened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Prosecutors and police are still investigating the death and ask anyone with information to call them at 609-921-2100.
