FLORENCE -- A man accused of stabbing a woman multiple times before fleeing has been taken into custody after an extensive manhunt in Burlington County, police said.
Akil Herbert was arrested early Thursday without incident, Florence police announced on their Facebook page.
On Wednesday night, officers had responded to the 200 block of 5th Avenue for a report of a woman who was stabbed. She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
Several witnesses identified the suspect and the direction he had fled.
A perimeter was set up with the help of Burlington City, Bordentown City, Bordentown Township, Mansfield, Willingboro, NJ Transit and State Police. A K-9 unit and helicopter were also used in the search.
