Jashun Turner, 20, faces weapons and drug charges
TRENTON -- A Trenton man is facing weapons and drug charges after police saw him hide a gun and bundles of heroin in an air-conditioning unit.
Jashun Turner, 20, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon during a narcotics scheme and possession and intent to distribute CDS.
Street Crime Unit detectives were patrolling the North 25 public housing complex at around 5:08 p.m. Sunday when they saw a man, later identified as Turner, with a group of people in the courtyard between Fairway Drive and Carver Lane, said Capt. Donald Fillinger.
When Turner saw the officers, he became startled and started walking toward Carter Lane while holding his waistband. But unbeknownst to him, there was another officer who saw him hide a gun and white square package in an AC unit before returning to the courtyard, Fillinger said.
The officer recovered the H&R .22-caliber revolver and seven bundles of heroin.
Turner was arrested and a search found him to have 30 more packages of heroin, Fillinger said. He was held on $100,000 bail.
