EWING -- A 26-year-old Hamilton man seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 95 last week died from his injuries a day later at a Trenton hospital.
Ryan Patrick Fowler was a lifelong Hamilton resident who loved sports and his Irish heritage. He was a landscaper working recently for the grounds department at Princeton University, his obituary says.
Fowler was injured Thursday, Aug. 25, at about 5 a.m. at mile marker 2 in the northbound lanes of the highway in Ewing, the New Jersey State Police said.
Troopers arrived at the crash and found Fowler's vehicle idle in the right lane and Fowler on the left shoulder, unresponsive, police said. Another vehicle was also stopped.
State police spokesman Sgt. Gregory Williams said Fowler's vehicle apparently struck the center guardrail, spun out, and was struck by a second northbound motorist, who was not injured.
An ambulance took Fowler to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton with serious injuries to his head and body.
Troopers found no evidence of alcohol or drug use by either driver, and no charges have been filed in connection with the crash.
Fowler's father, Kevin Fowler, said the family is suffering from an unbelievable shock, but they are buoyed by the outpouring of condolences on social media and the love from their family and Ryan's friends.
"He touched so many lives," Kevin Fowler said.
Ryan Fowler enjoyed playing quoits, golfing, and spending time at the beach, and was an avid fan of Philadelphia professional sprts teams, the New York Knicks, NASCAR and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
He was also a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. Ryan Fowler played football at Steinert High School and graduated with the class of 2008.
Ryan Fowler is survived by his parents, Kevin and Sally Fowler, brothers, Kevin and Stephen Fowler, and numerous relatives.
He will be buried Thursday following a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gregory the Great Church in Hamilton.
