TRENTON -- A Trenton man who was shot in the arm and two others are facing weapon charges after police found a BB gun in the car they were driving.
Kameron Smith, 20, Jazma Bellamy, 23, both of Trenton, and Rafiq Carrington, 22, of Richmond, Va., were each charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.
Street Crime Unit detectives were on Hancock Street around 4:49 p.m. Saturday when they were told of a shooting that took place in the area of Jersey Street and Home Avenue, said Lt. Stephen Varn. They then saw a car speeding on Hancock Street toward Cass Street and stopped it in the area of Beatty Street and Freudenmacher Alley.
Detectives learned that Smith, the front passenger, had been shot in the arm. Paramedics were called and he was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center with the non-life-threatening injury, Varn said.
Police then charged the trio after they found a BB gun in the car.
The initial shooting incident remains under investigation by the Shooting Response Team, Varn said.
