TRENTON -- An off-duty Trenton police officer shot two people Saturday night at a gathering in the city's West Ward and one died a short time later, the police department said Sunday.
The incident occurred at about 9:50 p.m. at West Ingham Avenue and Roosevelt Street, Trenton police spokesman Lt. Stephen Varn said.
Varn did not have information on the second victim and he did not identify the police officer.
The shooting is being investigated by the Mercer County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force. Additional details from the prosecutor's office were not immediately available.
