Christopher Proctor, 21, faces weapons charges
TRENTON -- A 21-year-old Trenton man is facing weapons charges after police caught him trying to toss a loaded gun to the ground.
Street Crime Unit detectives went to Kaser Street at around 5:18 p.m. Tuesday after receiving information that a man, later identified as 21-year-old Christopher Proctor, was in possession of a gun, said Lt. Stephen Varn.
Proctor was with with a group of people and when he became aware of the detectives, stepped away from the group toward a tall patch of grass, Varn said. He reached into his waistband, pulled out a gun and tried to discreetly throw it into the grass as he continued to walk away, Varn said.
The detectives detained him, recovered the gun and placed him under arrest. He also had more bullets on him, Varn said.
Proctor is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, certain persons not to have weapons, having a prohibited device because the gun was loaded with hollow point ammunition and hindering apprehension.
