Two more sessions are being held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22
TRENTON -- Trenton police are making a final push next week to reach out to city residents who are interested in becoming police officers.
The department's summer recruitment drive has been focused on city residents as an effort to diversify the force and make sure it better reflects the city's demographics.
Two information sessions are being held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday: one at Friendship Baptist Church at 111 Perry St. and the other at King David Lodge at 81 Bellevue Ave.
Those attending the session will learn about the steps necessary to become a Trenton police officer, the background investigation process and test-taking strategies.
Attendees must be a city resident, a U.S. or naturalized citizen, be between the ages of 18 and 35 and must have a high school diploma or GED.
For more information or to apply online, visit the state's Civil Service Commission at state.nj.us./csc. The deadline is Aug. 31.
