Convicted sex offender John Dixon has been accused of sexually assaulting another family member
HIGHTSTOWN -- Jurors began deliberations Friday for a registered sex offender accused of sexually abusing a young boy in 2012.
The trial for John Dixon, 62, of Hightstown, charged with second-degree sexual assault, started Monday and ran until Friday, when jurors began their deliberations, according to Mercer County Assistant Prosecutor Michael Mennuti.
Dixon is accused of sexually assaulting the boy multiple times between May and October of 2012 when he was under the age of 13 and visiting his home, Mennuti said.
The child told family members about the assaults the next year, according to prosecutors.
During the hearing this week, Dixon's wife testified her husband was innocent. She said in court Thursday that the child was "untruthful" and she denied ever leaving her husband alone with the child when he visited their house.
Though, when pressed by Mennuti, Dixon's wife admitted that she may have left them on several occasions to use the bathroom.
Jurors had not decided on a verdict by Friday afternoon.
