Kimberly Rizo, 26, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child
TRENTON -- A Trenton mom is facing a child endangerment charge after police say her 1-year-old son was left unattended in her house.
Kimberly Rizo, 26, told police she had gone outside to check on her car around 9 a.m. Thursday when her son locked the door behind her, said Lt. Stephen Varn.
She was unable to get back inside and eventually called 911 for help at around 1 p.m. Firefighters forced entry into the Stuyvesant Avenue home and found the child unharmed, Varn said.
Detective Kevin Starkey and the state's division of Child Protection and Permanency continued the investigation, which resulted in her arrest.
