HAMILTON -- A high school football player was pulled unconscious from the deep end of Nottingham High School's pool Wednesday night and had to be resuscitated, officials said.
The teen, described by first responders as an incoming freshman, was taken to a local hospital following the 6 p.m. incident, police said.
He is a member of the Nottingham High School football team, which is holding preseason practices at the school and was using the pool, officials said.
Township police confirmed they responded to a report of an unconscious juvenile in the pool and the person was resuscitated with CPR. The police department said they had no further involvement after an EMS crew arrived.
A first responder with knowledge of the incident said the boy was later transported to a hospital outside Mercer County for further treatment.
Nottingham High School football coach Jon Adams declined to comment on the incident Thursday, referring comment to the Hamilton superintendent's office.
The Hamilton superintendent's office did not immediately respond to a request for information about the incident Thursday.
