PENNINGTON -- Hundreds of hot but happy butterfly lovers descended on the grounds of the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association to attend the 16th Annual Watershed Butterfly Festival.

The day-long event, "Celebrating the Swallowtail," was held in honor of the Black Swallowtail Butterfly, which was named the official butterfly of New Jersey earlier this year.

For many, the stroll through the Kate Gorrie Butterfly House was the highlight of the day as a variety of butterfly species fluttered through the air. Other activities included a parade, nature walks, music, crafts, and spin-art.

Attendees this year were invited to try for a Guinness World Record for the most people wearing butterfly wings.
