Gendron, as a lieutenant, had been the department's officer-in-charge since November 2014.
HIGHTSTOWN -- Frank Gendron was officially sworn-in as police chief Thursday night in a ceremony during which two officers became sergeants and three new officers took the oath of office, the department announced.
Gendron, as a lieutenant, had been the department's officer-in-charge since November 2014 before being named chief in May of this year.
At the swearing-in, Ronald Stephensen and Francisco Jimenez became sergeants and Ryan Buck, Daniel Abbatemarco and Vincent Doell became borough officers.
Chief Gendron, a graduate of the FBI's national academy, has risen through the department's ranks and started his police career as a borough police dispatcher.
Stephensen served in the patrol division prior to his promotion and Jimenez served as a patrol officer and as a detective.
Buck and Abbatemarco both come to the borough from Atlantic Highlands, where they were class-2 special officers. Doell was previously a police officer in Plumsted Township.
