"I am very excited to have this opportunity to serve on our Township's Shade Tree Commission and to help provide feedback and advice regarding the ongoing shade tree planting and forestry efforts that our community undertakes," Schick said in a statement. "I want to thank Mayor Kelly Yaede for appointing me to this position."

Gabriel Schick's interest in plants was fostered when he worked for a landscaping company in New Holland, Pa. during the summer after his high school graduation.

Schick served active duty in the Marine Corps from 1995 to 2000 as an aircraft mechanic. And over the years, he's briefly worked for Hamilton-based Angiolino & Sons Landscaping.

"Beyond his honorable service to our nation in the United States Marine Corps, I am confident that Gabe's experiences and genuine interest in landscape plants will make him an excellent contributor to our Shade Tree Commission, whose efforts have helped Hamilton Township retain our national 'Tree City USA' designation for ten consecutive years," Yaede said.

The Shade Tree Commission seeks to advise Hamilton in its efforts to plant and take care of shade and ornamental trees.
